"Service before self" - Life Line of the School

Besides providing sound academic pursuits, our school believes in the motto "Service before Self". Our school inculcates a feeling of caring and sharing among students towards our society. We are social beings hence we must take up some "tasks" for the betterment of our society.

From the year 2000 our school has been a regular participant of the Better Kolkata Contest organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce. It was also the year when the Interact Club of our school came into being.

Interact Club

The Interact Club was formed in the year 2000 for all round development. It is the club "of the students, by the students, for the students." Students from Class VIII onwards have to compulsorily become the member of the Interact Club. The list of activities of this club is endless. Through our various social activities we have not only won accolades but many "hearts" too. This club is involved in a cleanliness drive, free health camps, mass feeding (on Saturdays), a literacy programme for street children etc.

THE Lotus Mission

The Lotus Mission came into being in 2000. In today’s high cost of living the ones to suffer most are the poor street children. They cannot arrange for two meals a day – let alone the thought of going to school. But they too have some "dreams". Their "dreams" are nipped in the bud due to extreme poverty. Hence the Interact Club of our School has decided to impart free education to the street children of our locality.

Cleanliness

A regular inspection is done in our neighbourhood to find out the grievances which are then taken care of one by one. A urinal is maintained on a monthly basis at Sudder Street. Students also maintain cleanliness within our school campus. Railing paintings and care of plants in the vicinity of our school are done by our students.

Health Programmes

Every year health camps are held in the school campus for a Malaria check-up, Thalassaemia Awareness, Blood Donation, Eye Camp and Cardio Vascular Check-ups. Free consultations are provided by eminent doctors. A number of cataract operations to the needy have been sponsored by the school. Our school has also adopted a village named "Ghoshpur" and provided free stationery items, blankets, health check-ups to the villagers. The students have been given various duties in order to make them aware of social issues. Thus our school believes in creating responsible citizens who can "feel and heal". Our school is the proud recipient of a number of awards in the "Better Kolkata Contest" in "The Telegraph School Awards for Excellence" and CESC - The Telegraph True Spirit Puja
